Dog Walking Etiquette - Phones

Friedrich Nietzsche: “All truly great thoughts are conceived by walking a dog.”

Alright; I added the dog to that quote.

Don’t use your phone or wear headphones when walking your dog in a city. This is your dogs time, respect that and chaperone them. When you’re out on the street you should be ready to take action as situations can turn bad in an instant.

It may appear rude, but I do not let my dog meet another dog if their person is occupied on the phone or unable to hear with headphones on. I am not going to entertain your dog for you while you go about your business. I am ready to intervene if anything goes wrong, and I expect the same from the other dog person. Your dog may be the friendliest dog in the world but it is your responsibility to ask the other dogs person if it is OK for them to meet. To just assume is rude and frankly negligent.

Dog parks are where dogs are free to socialize on their own. Different rules apply to the sidewalk.
